Q: How can I get an evaluation copy of DataQE?
A: 30-Day Trial copy of DataQE can be downloaded from the DataQE web site (www.dataqe.com). After the 30 day evaluation period, a valid activation code must be obtained in order to keep using the software. Q: Is DataQE Training available?
A: Yes, customized training for your organization can be arranged. In addition to training on the use of the
software, other DataQE setup and support services, such as assistance with Rule Set creation/management,
implementation of QA/QC programs, or custom QA Tool development are also available. If you are interested

Q: Is ArcGIS required for DataQE?
A: Yes. DataQE is an add-on for ArcGIS, and therefore requires that ArcGIS Desktop be installed. DataQE works
as an ArcMap tool, allowing you to perform interactive data quality evaluations of map layers that you
currently have loaded in an ArcMap session. In addition, DataQE can be started in Standalone mode, which
allows you to perform evaluations of GIS layers and tables using saved evaluation definitions without
starting an ArcMap session; however, an ArcMap license is still required in order to run DataQE in
Standalone mode.
Q: What ArcMap versions/licensing levels are supported by DataQE?
A: Beginning with V5.1, DataQE is no longer supported on the ArcGIS 9.3.x platform, and requires ArcGIS 10
or higher. If you have not yet migrated to ArcGIS 10, you can still use DataQE V5.0 on the ArcGIS 9.3.x platform;

Q: What versions of Windows are supported by DataQE?
A: DataQE V5.1 will operate with Windows 7 or Windows Vista.
Q: What data formats are supported for evaluation by DataQE?
A: DataQE can perform evaluations on most spatial and tabular data formats that are supported by ArcMap.
For spatial data, this includes enterprise geodatabases, personal geodatabases, file geodatabases,
shapefiles, coverages and CAD files (raster data formats are not supported). For tabular data, supported
data sources include MS Access, SQL Server, Oracle, Excel, DBF and text files (CSV, TSV, etc.).
Q: Do I need to uninstall DataQE before I uninstall ArcGIS?
A: Yes. Since DataQE operates as an ArcMap add-in, if you plan to uninstall ArcGIS (such as when upgrading to
a new version), DataQE must be uninstalled prior to uninstalling ArcGIS. Failure to do so may cause DataQE to
function incorrectly with ArcGIS after the reinstall, and may also prevent DataQE from being uninstalled or
re-installed itself. The recommended approach when upgrading to a new version of ArcGIS is as follows:
- Uninstall DataQE
- Uninstall ArcGIS
- Install the new version of ArcGIS
- Re-install DataQE, or install a new version of DataQE, as appropriate.
